In 1954, Mr. Merle Murray opened Murray's Hobbyland. The store was originally located at 1110 North Main Street in Bloomington, Illinois. The business started as a toy store but evolved into a hobby store by the late 50's. The business relocated to its present business at 616 North Main Street in historic downtown Bloomington in 1969. Mr. Murray retired from the business in 1995.
